of a long overdue post
*warning: long post ahead*
Haven't been blogging due to laziness in uploading photos and the mad rush in my 帝女花 vcds. Once again, the phenomenon of doing-anything-but-revision is upon me once more - hopefully for the last time since this is the last sem ever, of school. And I decided that I should blog before starting on my Multi.ling readings - about the Malacca trip + last day of school!
Headed up to Malacca during the recent Good Friday weekend with Chong + 4 of his bachelor friends [one of whom has already gotten himself attached since then!] We rented a car and drove up ourselves; and though I was previously apprehensive about the safety of the idea of driving up, but I must admit tt having your own transport is really much more convenient.
The only thing I hated, though, was the apartment tt we lived in - no pictures cos it wasn't a very hospitable place to live in - the bedsheets + pillow cases were sticky from I-don't-know-and-I-don't-want-to-know-what; the sofa springs were creaky, and the hot water heater wasn't working! Which meant tt I had to shower in cold water for 3 days!
Here's a picture to show you tt appearances can be deceiving:
It looks like a a typical condo, with a seaside view to boot - but then again, the internals were, to say the least, rather disappointing. I would have paid to stay in a hotel, anytime. But then since the guys were kind enough to invite me along for the trip [I was the only girl, btw], I decided tt these sort of opinions were better kept to myself, lest I be labelled as a spoilt bimbo [I wouldn't mind it if I came across as an intellectual bimbo tho'. hah!]
Picture time!
I became a photo-whore in the car, to pass the time and also because, sitting right at the back, no one else could see how narcisstic I really was. Hah.
Breakfast on the second morning - this is nasi lemak; quite similar to what we have over here, but of course, much cheaper!
Their version of rojak; tastes very different from our version, and has a tinge of how the S'pore indian rojak tastes like. A supposedly healthy dish too, as it was filled with crunchy veges and beansprouts.
After bfast we went down to A'famosa resort where we visited the Water World, a water theme park much like how Fantasy Island was. The rides weren't fantastic, but it was still fun hanging ard and playing the rides. I have a horrible bruise on my elbow though - credits to the boyfriend [but it was actually my fault, cos I sat up during a ride when I was supposed to be lying down, and the boyfriend came from behind and bumped me!]
Other than tt, we shopped + ate! The food we had was cheap [think seafood at sgd10+/person for 6 dishes!], and we had durians too! All of us were durian-lovers, a rare occurance, in my opinion (:
Few more pictures:
That's Chong and myself outside the well-known tourist spot, the Church of Melaka. This is the place where tourists all flock to, to take a glimpse at the remnants of Portuguese colonial rule. But having done Soci of Tourism a few semesters ago, I'm somewhat cynical of all these tourist-y stuff. Flowers + fountain were pretty though. Hee.
These are the guys who were my travel companions - and I must say, I am rather glad tt it was them [rather than some others] who made up my Malacca companions. They're quite nice and friendly, and I managed to get to know them better. I must say I do like the boyfriend's friends quite a bit, and don't really mind hanging out with them (=
A candid shot tt the boyfriend took while we were waiting for a seat at the seafood place - I was looking out at the sea, and I think he really managed to capture a beautiful shot of yours truly (= It reflected how happy I was at tt time, so I named this shot "happiness".
Another shot of us; and I have this pic of us on my msn avatar - and you know what? I've had 4 friends telling me tt my boyfriend looks like Huang Zhi Hao, a Mediacorp news presenter on channel8. Well, I looked for pics of the guy, and I must say, there is a slight resemblance, especially in this pic. Hah.
All in all, I had a good time during this short getaway. It was a chance for me to recharge after all the crazy deadlines of this semester, and I really enjoyed the holiday with Chong. So much so tt I was rather reluctant for it all to end. Hah. But its ok, I can look forward to my grad trip with him! [which is in less than a month, yipee!]

Friday 13th marked the last day of my 4 years in nus.land, and I must say I felt rather nostalgic. Not sad per se, but the feeling of being forced to grow up before I was ready to. Don't we all feel this way sometimes? Being thrust out into the reality of the world, together with all the ugliness that comes with it. No longer are you sheltered, you have to step out and survive as best as you can.
In a way I'm rather glad tt I'm not stepping into the corporate world [not tt where I'm headed to is perfect either] and all the politics tt come with it. I guess I'll just miss the closeness and intimacy of the honours class. I'm glad I decided to stay on for one more year - in this one year, I've gotten to know new friends; but at the same time, I've gotten closer to my elang clique.
I'll never forget those lunches at fong.seng, where van and I wld eat and talk abt life in general; those bus rides with von where we'll exchange opinions on the various issues in life; the times when Andrea and I hung out and got to know each other better; and the bitching tt goes on in prag. and forensics - these will be the memories tt I'll carry with me. (=
I love you elang girls, thanks for making this last year at nus.land so memorable!
Shall end this post with a pic taken at our last class of nus.land - the entire prag class. Even though at times the stuff taught in class made me scratch my head, I really enjoyed this class. In fact, I think it's my favourite class in this whole sem! (: [I'm in green, btw, if you can't spot me. Hah]
